Between 7,000 and 8,000 records from the collection of Keith McIvor, better known as Optimo's JD Twitch, will go on sale at World of Echo on Cheshire Street in east London, starting 14 November.
McIvor died of glioblastoma last September.
For the first few days the shop will be given over entirely to his collection, with every record carrying a "World of JD Twitch" sticker. After 19 November, whatever is left moves onto the shop's second-hand racks. A second part of the sale is already planned for 2027.
His widow, Marissa Costello, worked out the plan with Jonnie Wilkes of Optimo. She says McIvor believed records are there to be played, discovered and loved, and that it mattered to them the collection ended up in an independent shop, given how much he supported those throughout his life.
Fanzines put together by friends and family will also be available in exchange for a donation to the Keith McIvor Glioblastoma Research Fund, which backs research in Scotland.
