Berlin Clubcommission Hands Out Over €400,000 to Clubs and Collectives

Berlin's Clubcommission is distributing €410,000 across 32 clubs, radio stations, and collectives on October 3, timed to the opening of TAG DE CLUBKULTUR, a citywide festival running October 3 through 11. More than 110 clubs and initiatives are taking part this year, with a program that spans live performances, DJ sets, panel talks, workshops, exhibitions, audiovisual shows, daytime events, and online sessions.

This year's edition runs under the motto "STAY CORE," which organizers say reflects on how club culture holds its ground "when costs rise, spaces disappear, and pressure grows." Highlights on the calendar include a 49th anniversary party from SchwuZ, understood to be Berlin's oldest queer club, and a 15th anniversary celebration from Kreuzberg venue Gretchen.

Organizers framed the festival, and the funding behind it, as a way of making the resilience of Berlin's club scene visible rather than assumed: "Across the city, clubs and collectives will make their resilience visible and invite everyone to come together, exchange, and celebrate."
