After a fire and a lease scare, Berlin's Renate marks 19 years with a defiant 66-hour non-stop party.
Salon zur Wilden Renate has been a fixture of Friedrichshain's nightlife since 2007, and this year it's marking nineteen years the only way that felt right: a 66-hour non-stop party running from Friday, September 11th through Monday the 14th. It's a defiant gesture as much as a celebration - the venue's lease nearly ran out in 2025, and a fire that same year damaged its garden entrance before an extension deal secured its future through 2026. The lineup leans international and local in equal measure, with Daniel Avery, Angel D'lite and Mary Lake alongside Berlin regulars, live bands, and - in keeping with Renate's long-standing refusal to take itself too seriously - dance workshops, drag and burlesque threaded through the schedule. Organisers have described the ethos simply as staying "playful, weird and community-driven," which, after everything the club has weathered this year, reads less like a slogan and more like a survival strategy.
