Behringer's long-gestating take on the Soviet-era Polivoks looks to be done.
A finished unit was spotted on the show floor ahead of Music China by Nick Batt of Sonicstate and Nan Tang of Midifan, and it appears to use the Eurorack-style "boat" format Behringer has favoured for its recent reissues.
The project was developed with Vladimir Kuzmin, the man behind the original instrument, who is reported to have died in the summer of 2026. The original Polivoks was a parahonic keyboard synth built around two oscillators, a filter, two envelopes and a single LFO, and its gritty, aggressive filter made it a cult favourite with industrial, EBM and dark electronic producers.
Details are still thin. Earlier prototype photos pointed to two multi-wave oscillators with detune and pulse width modulation, a sub-oscillator, FM, noise and an external input, plus a multimode filter with low pass and band pass, two ADSR envelopes, a multi-wave LFO, a mono/duophonic switch, MIDI in and CV/gate. Those were taken from an older prototype though, so the final panel may differ. Pricing and release timing have not been announced, with Behringer saying full details will follow.
