California's Armory imprint is the home for the new EP, 'Big Bad Dark City' from d'n'b scene stalwart, Alley Cat.
The Kokeshi Records and ESP Agency boss lady serves us up 3 killer d'n'b numbers for the first time in 14 years!
EP title track 'Big Bad Dark City' eases us in with a beauty of an arpeggio, before the organic percussion and twang of a bass string are supported with the subtlest of sub basses. This is the one that has been a headphone mainstay for me, due to its hypnotic nature...
'Construction Tune' sets a darker tone both in melody and percussion. The almost junglist beats are paired with haunting vocal stabs and pensive pads that come together with some lovely foley fx work.

The EP closer, 'May Day' is a much busier piece, warm sub bass, industrial tinged beats and swelling pads wrap the release up nicely.
We love anything that Alley Cat does here at Ablo, so it's no surprise that this EP was a big hit with us too!
