When the modern world seems like a place where theres barely a moment to catch your breath or take a moment to just sit and reset, artists like Jogging House offer a port in that storm.
For over a decade, Boris Potschubay has been quietly building one of Bandcamp's most consistent ambient catalogues under the name Jogging House. Working out of Frankfurt am Main, he occupies a particular corner of the electronic music world - unhurried, textural, insistently human - running his own Seil Records label and cultivating a community around music that earns the overused word "immersive" without really trying to.
Really, released September 1 2026, marks something of a departure in method if not in spirit. The album's 13 tracks - among them Veranda, Cobra, Beak, and Flames - were recorded in single takes direct to quarter-inch tape, a discipline that keeps the imperfections in and the over-thinking out. Potschubay reaches for an unusually varied arsenal here: Digitakt 2, Polyvera, modular synthesis, Mood Mk2, and more, all threaded through with intimate piano recordings from collaborator Salt LX, which he then altered and reinterpreted into something barely recognisable. The artist's own framing - "Thoughts to dwell on, winds to float in" - is as good a compass as any for what follows.

The analogue approach to Really and its patient, soothing character make this an absolute must for fans of modern ambient. Warm, rich, and full of genuine feeling, it provides a sonic refuge for those with more than a little weight on their shoulders or a cross to bear. Whether it's the drifting openness of Veranda - the album's quietly disarming opener - or the haunting, manipulated piano of Counterfeit, the emotional depth of each track stands on its own while merging seamlessly into the LP's journey as a whole.
That Potschubay recorded these pieces in single takes straight to quarter-inch tape is no small detail. It lends the record a lived-in warmth that digital production so often struggles to replicate, a sense that what you're hearing caught something real in the moment rather than assembled it afterwards.
Constructed with a delicacy and poise that showcases his skill for the genre, Really resists the temptation to be merely a collection of ambient pieces. Instead it functions as something closer to a complete work - one best experienced and enjoyed in the order it's given, allowing its quiet logic to unfold at its own unhurried pace.
