Roland Marks 45 Years of the Jupiter-8 With a New Boutique Synth, Plus a First Wavetable Model

Monday November 02nd 2026

Roland has celebrated the Jupiter-8's 45th birthday with two additions to its pocket-sized Boutique line.

The Jupiter-08 is a compact take on the 1981 classic, while the N/vision is the first wavetable synth in the range.

The Jupiter-08 uses Roland's ABM modelling to recreate the original oscillators and filters, which allows more polyphony than the older JP-08 managed. It offers eight voices as standard, expandable to 32, along with dual and split modes. The panel stays close to the original, with cross modulation on the first oscillator, sync and fine tune on the second, and a high-pass filter alongside the main one. Some extra LFO and oscillator waveforms have been added, while the touch strips from the JP-08 are gone.

The N/vision ships with 63 factory wavetables that can be blended through a dual-layer design, a waveshaper for adding harmonics, and an analogue-modelled filter with several vintage-flavoured modes and drive.

Both run on batteries, include a built-in speaker, a two-part 64-step polyphonic sequencer and arpeggiator, and a set of digital effects including reverb, delay, chorus, bitcrusher and phaser. Connections cover headphones, main out, aux in, MIDI in and out, and USB-C for audio and MIDI. Each is sold bundled with the 25-key K-25m keyboard and cannot be bought without it.
