Tresor.West, the Dortmund sister venue of Berlin's Tresor, will close its doors at the end of 2026. The team confirmed the news on 8 October, saying that carrying on in its current form is no longer realistic.
Founder Dimitri Hegemann pointed to falling visitor numbers, rising costs and shifting nightlife habits. Crowds are drifting towards summer festivals, individual event brands and big-name DJs, which leaves genre-specific clubs struggling to fill a room week after week. Hegemann says a programme built purely around techno is no longer economically viable in the space.
Before the lights go out, the club will run farewell nights through October, November and December, with Alienata, Phase Fatale and Truncate among the names still on the calendar. A final closing event is yet to be announced.
The building itself may have a future. The team is looking for a new operator to take over the Phönixplatz space, and promoters, collectives and hospitality operators have until 15 November to apply. The venue has already been used for daytime community events, and enquiries have come in for cultural, private and corporate bookings. The original Tresor in Berlin is unaffected and carries on as normal.
